I don't control this and dunno if it's helpful, but I can confirm based on being a heavy bullpen user that as long as I've played Mendoza (2015-) you've always been limited to 6 MRs and 6 LRs. I didn't realize the rules said 8. I kinda doubt it matters much? Also the rules are meant to mimic MLB when possible, and I wonder whether there are really enough mid leverage or higher IP to go around for 11 relievers (8MR + 3 SR/CL), even in September & with the move toward aggressive/innovative bullpen use.
(also in practice you usually have some RPs with SP eligibility, e.g. Bud Norris, and you can put them as SP and effectively increase your MRs)
After 8 years of Mendoza, I am fully versed on jockeying roster slots based on player eligibility...not my first rodeo. Just a bit annoyed that the system won't allow the number of MR/LR slots stated in the rules...and yes those slots matter when making up innings over a full month (1/6 of a season).
I haven't needed all 8 MR/LR slots in the past, but this year I intended/needed to go max pitching in September with SP and all RP slots to make up deficiencies in two leagues.
Right, but you're saying this is the first time you've done this strategy, and I'm simply saying that for years the MR/LR limit has been 6/6, not 8/8, regardless of what's in the written rules. So, I always plan for 6/6 & would have said the same to anyone who asked in leagues I commish.
There's also an additional question of whether 6/6 or 8/8 is more appropriate. For sure, the written rules and code should be aligned.
Unless you have authority to write code or change the rules document...it's not helpful...it's just your opinion on strategy...which is not the question.
Let me try this whole thing again....
Arne -- I have a programming / rules question for you. This is not a strategy question...just a technical question for someone that writes the code and rules.
Your rules document states up to 8 MR/LR, but your program will only allow me to use 6. Please advise whether your program or your rules document needs fixed. I am trying to make up an innings deficiency in two leagues and would like the 8 MR/LR noted in the rules document to be implemented if possible.
